Goa is a small state in southwestern India renowned for its gorgeous beaches, spiced gastronomy, laid-back atmosphere and friendly inhabitants. The local historical ruins, lush vegetation and tropical climate exist together harmoniously, making Goa India's flagship tourist destination. Goa Velha, the historic capital of this former Portuguese colony, is home to the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The volunteer project takes place in Saligao, near the town of Mapusa in North Goa, with access to the paradisiacal beaches of Anjuna, Baga and Candolim -- only 45 minutes away. The project is spread over several sites and according to your particular mission, the daily commute to the project site will be no more than approximately 45 minutes.
